Brief Profile

First Capital Plus (FCP) is a wholly-owned Ghanaian Savings and Loans institution, duly Licensed by the Bank of Ghana (License Certificate No. FNB 0050) under the Financial Institutions (Non-Banking) Law 1993 (P.N.D.C L 328).

The company commenced operations as a savings and loans institution on October 29, 2009. This marked a major transition in operations, having operated for two years as a financial NGO specialising in micro finance.

As a savings and loans institution, the company is authorised to provide a wide variety of banking service to the public including checking accounts, savings accounts, investments, e-banking services such as ATMs, SMS Banking, Electronic Bill Payments, Funds Transfers etc.

Within its first year of operations, FCP opened five (5) branches in addition its Head Office Branch at Tesano. The company currently has eight (8) operational branches in total, located at Tesano, Newtown, Makola, Ashiaman, Osu, Kasoa, Kumasi and Takoradi.

In June 2011, First Capital Plus launched its SMS Banking service (branded SpeedBanking) and commenced its innovative flagship 24hour Cash Deposit service. SpeedBanking allows customers to deposit cash directly into their bank accounts in real time through an SMS (text message), anywhere, anytime, any day. Click here for more info.

FCP’s strategic objective for SpeedBanking is to revolutionise banking by expanding its frontiers to include a large section of the unbanked population.

Dr. Mensa Otabil is a Pastor, Educator, Entrepreneur and Consultant. He is the Founder and General Overseer of the International Central Gospel Church with its network of local churches, Multifaceted Ministries and Initiatives in Ghana. The Church also has extensive outreaches to other parts of Africa, Europe and the United States.

Dr. Otabil is the Founder and Chancellor of Ghana’s premier private university- The Central University College; the Chief Executive Officer and Consultant of Otabil and Associates- an Executive and leadership growth consultancy; and also serves on several Boards and Trusts within Ghana and in the other parts of the world.

Currently he serves on the board of Kings University College, National Peace Council, Starwin Products Limited, Institute of Economic Affairs and Central University College.

Stephen holds an MBA from IFM (University of Manchester and Wales). He is also a Chartered Accountant and holds the Final Certificate of the Institute of Chartered Accountants (Ghana). Mr. Stephen Enchill has also acquired a wealth of experience through the following positions, which he (has) held with distinction: Finance Manager, Ikam Limited; Principal Accountant, Ghana National Petroleum Corporation; Audit Manager, Pannel Kerr Forster (Chartered Accountants); Internal Auditor, Unilever Ghana.

Stephen serves on other corporate Boards such as Ekumfiman Rural Bank Limited, Glico Life Insurance Company, Glico General Insurance Company, and Actionaid Ghana. He is also a financial advisor to the International Central Gospel churches.

He is the Managing Partner of Forbes Consult International (Chartered Accountants & Management Consultants). He is currently pursuing his Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) at the Swiss Management Centre University, Switzerland.

William Ato Essien holds a BSc. (Marketing option) degree from the Central University College and a Certificate in Micro-Finance. He serves on the Board of Wade-Laurel Printing Press Limited (which he founded), Wanart Marketing Consult and FCP Trust.

[break]He is an astute entrepreneur with a wealth of experience in micro-financing and business financing structuring.

Osah holds aMSc. in Management, Strategy and Projects from the Umea School of Business and Economics (USBE), Sweden and a BSc. Admin Degree in Banking and Finance from the University of Ghana Business School (UGBS).

He joined Gold Coast Securities Limited as a Fund Management Trainee and rose to become a Senior Fund Analyst. He joined Ecobank Ghana Limited in 2004 as a Credit Analyst in the SME Banking unit. Until his resignation in June 2009, he was the Senior Credit Analyst in the unit and a member of the Credit Committee of the bank.

He was responsible for supervising and coaching newly hired credit analysts in the areas of analysis; facility structuring and credit report write-ups. He was also involved in training of other credit analysts from other affiliates within the Ecobank Group. He brings with him, in depth knowledge and expertise in SME advisory services, development and financing; strong risk management skills, and extensive knowledge of the strategic management process. He is currently the Chairman of OTM Integrity Limited.

Harry Owusu is the Chairman of Gemini Life Insurance Company (Glico) in Ghana. Mr. Owusu holds a BA (Education) degree from the University of Cape Coast and graduate diploma in Communications Studies from University of Ghana, Legon. He received further training at the Economic Development Institute of the World Bank, USA, the Development Finance Institute of the Private Development Corporation of the Philippines and the Duke Centre for International Development, Duke University North Carolina, USA.

He has held senior management positions in National Investment Bank. He has also served on several Boards of corporations including Rhecach Buffalo Ghana Limited, Accra Markets Limited, Ghana Highway Authority, Ghana Stock Exchange, the Novotel Hotel, Accra, the Gaming Commission, GETFUND and GCNet.

Rev. Fitzgerald Odonkor, holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Science and an MBA from the University of Ghana. He also studied in Paris at the Alliance Francaise de Paris where graduated with a DiplomeD’EtudesFrancaises.

He joined Ecobank in 1991 and rose from the position of a credit officer in charge of foreign trade to Head of Operations. Until his retirement from Ecobank in 2009 he was the Managing Director of Ecobank Gambia.

Michael Amankwa holds a Master of Science Degree in information and Telecommunication Systems from the John Hopkins University and a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting and accounting information systems from James Madison University. He is the managing director of CoreNett.

Kofi holds an MSc. degree in Banking and Finance from FINAFRICA in Milan, Italy and a BA degree in Economics and Statistics from the University of Ghana, Legon.

He has over twenty years experience in all areas of banking especially Treasury Management, Credit Management and Foreign Operations.

Before joining First Capital Plus, he was the Deputy Managing Director of uniBank Ghana Limited responsible for the day to day management of the bank’s operations.

Prior to joining uniBank he worked at International Commercial Bank as the General Manager/Deputy CEO and supervised the organic growth of the bank.

He has also previously worked with the erstwhile Bank for Housing and Construction as well as Securities Discount Company Limited.

Mariam is the General Manager, Technology & Innovations. She holds an Executive MBA in Finance from the University of Ghana and an MA Degree in Records & Archives Management from University College, London. She also holds a Diploma in computer Science from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science & Technology.

Mariam joined First Capital Plus in April, 2012 as Head of Technology and was elevated to the position of General Manager in April, 2013. Prior to joining FCP, she worked as the Deputy Manager of Technology at the National Investment Bank for six years where she helped provide management support for the banking applications deployed in all the bank’s 28 Branches.

Her work experiences include; Principal Consultant for PRO Vision Consultants and IT Manager (Practice Support) at Ernst & Young Ghana. She also worked at the Office of the Head of Civil Service (OHCS) as Programming Assistant and later as Acting Director of the Management Information Systems Department.

She’s an old student of T. I. Ahmadiyya Secondary School, Kumasi.

Gifty, General Manager (Business Banking) is responsible for the Business Banking Division (Treasury, Business Services, and Advisory Services) of First Capital Plus.

She holds an M.A. in Development Economics from the Institute of Social Studies (ISS), The Hague, The Netherlands.

Gifty has over fifteen (15) years experience in Relationship Banking, Leasing and Research from her previous work experience with Access Bank (GH) Limited; Horizon Finance and Leasing; and A.C. Neilsen.

Charles is General Manager ( Risk Management). Charles Kingsley Akuetteh (PhD, Durham University, UK, 2009) is an Economist and a banker by profession.

Charles joined First Capital Plus after completing his doctoral studies at Durham University, United Kingdom in 2009, where he researched on the financing of small businesses and entrepreneurship.

He is presently the Executive Manager, Risk Management (Credit Risk and Operational Risk/Compliance).

Charles also holds an MBA in Finance from the University of Ghana, Legon. He is an associated member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers, Ghana.

Charles has worked with UniBank Ghana Limited as a Senior Manager, Credit and Relationship Banking and with Sterling Financial Services as Corporate Finance Manager.

Oheneba, General Manager (SpeedBanking and Business Development).

Oheneba is a graduate of Economics from the University of Ghana. He is currently awaiting the award of MBA – Management Information Systems (MIS) from Maastricht School of Management (MSM), in the Netherlands.

Oheneba has over fifteen (15) years experience in Fundraising, Finance and Administration, Project Management, Business Development, and General Management.

Oheneba worked as a Senior Business Manager, Finance and Administration, at CERSGIS between 1998 and 2007 where he set up a framework for finance and administration, personnel, procurement, and project management.

He also managed major national development projects with funding from the World Bank, European Development Fund (EDF) and the Department for International Development (DFID).

Emmanuel is General Manager (Operations). Emmanuel is a graduate from University of Ghana, Legon whre studied Economics with Political Science.

He has over twenty years rich and extensive experience in Banking with both local and international Banks, notably, Barclays Bank and uniBank Ghana Limited.

His core competencies are in Retail Banking, Customer Relationship Management, People Development and Banking Operations.

Up until August 2011, Emmanuel was Head of Retail at uniBank Ghana Limited.

Christie is General Manager (Finance and Strategy). Christie is a Chartered Accountant (A member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants Ghana) with over 18years experience in banking in the areas of branch and finance administration.

She worked with the defunct Ghana Cooperative bank as an Internal Auditor and Branch Accountant and later as a Branch Manager of Women’s World Banking Ghana.

Prior to joining First Capital Plus in July, 2011, she worked with International Commercial Bank Ltd as Head of Finance.

She is currently an Executive MBA Finance student at the University of Ghana Legon.
